Soap Making Classes

Soapmaking classes are held at the Summit Recreation Center in Canton.  Sharon is also available for private and small group lessons, parties and speaking engagements.

Classes are taught by Owner and Founder of The Great Lakes Natural Soap Company, Sharon Czekala. Sharon is an Advanced Certified Professional Soapmaker in Cold Process, Hot Process and Melt & Pour Soapmaking, a Certified Soapmaking Teacher, and a long-standing member of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild.

Soapmaking Classes at the Summit will resume in March 2017. Private and Small Group lessons are available anytime.

 Cold Process I: Beginner

Learn to make all-natural, beautiful and fragrant soap in your own kitchen. This class will teach you the basics of oils, colors, process and scenting soap. Safety will be emphasized and everyone takes home a pound of fresh soap. Handmade soap makes great gifts and can be tailored to your skin type. Age 18 and up.

Prerequisite: Cold Process I or experience making CP soap.

Learn advanced techniques like swirling, layering and embedding to create beautiful and amazing soaps. Hands on class, and you take home the soap you make.

Cold Process II: All Natural

June 13, 2017  6-9 PM

Prerequisite: Cold Process I or experience making CP soap.

 Cold Process III: Milk Soaps

Bubble and Fizz: Making Bath Bombs and Other Tub Treats

July 25, 2017  6-9 PM

Bath Bombs are booming business, but you can make your own using simple ingredients. We”ll teach you the basics of bombs, bubble bars and bath melts in this fun, hands-on class.

Salt and Sugar Scrubs

August 8, 2017  6-9 PM

Learn to create exfoliating, moisturizing scrubs to use in the shower. You’ll learn techniques and tricks for turning natural ingredients like salt and sugar into a true spa experience. Class is offered to Youth and Adult students together, Ages 8 and up.
